Filmmaking for Beginners

The filmmaking course for beginners is an intensive creative course that offers 9-14 year olds an opportunity to explore the art of filmmaking for three fun filled days.

The course will run 10am - 4pm Monday 10th to Wednesday 12th April from Gloucestershire International School, Wotton House, Gloucester.

Students will have access to high definition production equipment, and an array of filming locations across the Wotton House estate.

The course will be lead by Nathan Hutchings, an experienced director, producer, actor, editor, camera operator and award winning film tutor. Nathan is advanced DBS certified and First Aid trained. 

Topics covered in the course include: 

  • Understanding the production process
  • Learning about equipment
  • The art of storytelling
  • The auditioning process
  • Acting on camera
  • Directing actors
  • Camera operating
  • Sound recording
  • Idea generation
  • Script writing
  • Storyboarding
  • Production planning
  • Post production

Individual learning outcomes include; increased technical awareness, communication skills, creative thinking, planning and organisation, presentation skills and teamwork.
