The Art of Performance
Involve is offering limited number of places for young people looking to develop their acting and communication skills.
The art of performance course offers 11 to 16 year olds an opportunity to explore and nurture their innate acting skills through experiential role play and creative production.
Students will have an opportunity to experience and explore the art of creative thinking, pitching and presenting ideas, story telling techniques, acting for stage and film, giving and taking direction, self-awareness, self-confidence and emotional intelligence,
Individual learning outcomes will be a combination of live performance and pieces performed on film.
The Art of Performance course will be lead by Nathan Hutchings, an experienced director, producer and award winning film tutor. Nathan has directed and produced films for the BBC and has the honour of working with a number of high profile actors including Hugh Laurie and Johnny Vegas. Nathan is also a qualified facility and coach and has run emotional intelligence and communication skills courses worldwide for companies including MTV, Save the Children, Time Inc, Land Securities plc and The Law Society.
Nathan is advanced DBS certified and First Aid trained.

- Acting on camera
- Acting on stage
- The auditioning process
- Communication skills
- Body language: macro to micro expressions
- Giving and receiving direction
- The art of storytelling
- Working with emotions
- Self-awareness exercises
- Working with scripted text
- Role play and improvisation
For those interested in the technical aspects of production including camera operating, sound recording and directing there will be opportunities throughout the classes to gain experience and develop your skills.
Individual course outcomes:
Course attendees will be benefit from increased self-awareness and self-confidence, as well as develop enhanced communication skills, emotional intelligence, collaboration, planning and organisation skills, creative thinking, decision making, technical awareness and resilience.

Course runs 5.00-7:00pm every Tuesday from 25th April (excluding school holidays)
Course Fee: £160 for 10 weekly sessions from 25th April to 27th June, excluding May 30th half term. Alternative payment option of 3 x £55 monthly can be arranged upon request.
